"Dismissive!"

Anything else?

Thankfully, I didn't even get the chance to go to this hospital in the end. After speaking to the NHS Direct, they advised me that my case is not urgent, but should be looked at as I had an infection and I was in a lot of pain. A nice young man gave me the details for Victoria Hospital and confirmed that it is a walk in centre but I can give them a ring to see what sort of time I should go up there that day. I decided to give them a ring and started to explain my 'situation', but before I could finish a very unfriendly 'advisor' told me that they do not deal with my type of case and I will have to wait to see a GP in the week. I then advised her that I had spoken to the NHS and they told me I should really see someone but again she cut in and said nope we do not deal with it here. I thanked her very much for all of her help and put the phone down. I understand that my case was not urgent but a bit of friendly advise would have been nice!

Unfortunately it appears that there may have been some misunderstanding about what conditions the unit is able to help with. We will liaise with NHS direct to ensure there is clarity on what services are available. You mention you had an infection, the unit at Lewes is a Minor Injury Unit which is able to help with wound infections only. Walk-in centres are able to help with a wider range of infections. Unfortunately there is not a walk-in centre at Lewes. Without knowing the details of your case, specific feedback can not be given at this stage. If you would like to discuss further please contact the unit asking to speak with the Clinical Service Manager for the Minor Injury Units, who would be happy to speak with you to ensure your experience does not happen again. Alternatively, you can contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on palse@esht.nhs.uk or 01323 435886."
