About: Homerton University Hospital

Anything else?

I was bitten by a dog three weeks ago in my leg and after my first treatment in the Whitechapel Hospital I was not really impressed by the health care system here in the UK. Gosh I was wrong. It can be so different. At Whitechapel I came directly after my the dog bite and I waited for 4 hours till I saw a doctor. He just looked at it and didn't even want to give me an injection for tetanus, because I come from Germany and I probably had it anyway even if I wasn't sure of that at all. After I asked him 3 times for an injection he finally sent a nurse. She did it and in my opinion it was not too professional done anyway she left me with saying "sorry I always mess this up"..well, well I felt that. Ok afterwards my leg totally went blue, but it was ok. But after 3 weeks the swelling was still there and the aching began. It was like someone is stabbing me all the time in my leg, and the part of my leg became totally hard. Also I got cramps in a regular basis. Cause I didn't trust the first opinion of the doctor at Whitechapel I went to Angel Clinic Practice after work. And "luckily" they couldn't take me in cause they were full for the day. But the receptionist gave me a list with alternatives. So I went to the first one, just because it was opened till 10pm. As I went there I couldn't find the entry straight away, so I asked the security guy. He was the first helpful person I met in that hospital ( but actually everyone was just fine ) and he brought me directly to entry. Then I met that amazing woman at the reception she was a real star. I felt straight away comfortable and she made me laugh...big time. If you read this. Thanks for that !!! :) Afterwards the registration she told me to take a seat. Because I just had one experience in a hospital in UK yet I thought it will take ages again. So i was prepared this time with my kindle. No need for that, I just sat down and a minute later a nice person called my first name. I didn't react first cause I thought that can't be me already. Then my nurse showed up and had a real look at my leg not like the doctor at Whitechapel. She explained me the whole situation and gave me tips for the right treatment. I really had the feeling that she actually cares even if it wasn't the biggest emergency. They were definitely AMAZING. Afterwards they gave me also tips for the best way home , cause I wasn't familiar with the area there at all. Long story short. The staff is amazing and the hospital is spotless clean. It's a modern building and everything just looks great and not so dirty like at Whitechapel. It's a shame that this hospital isn't nearby to my flat, cause I would definitely come back. I normally never write reviews, but this hospital and in particular the staff members just totally "kick ass" :D To all of you... Thanks so much for your help and your professional & friendly attitude !
