Anything else?
I returned home last Monday from a full knee replacement operation at YDH. The treatment I got was second to none, and I can't imagine why anybody would want to go private. The staff were very efficient and helpful, and very knowledgeable in the case of the medical staff (the consultant, the nurses and the physio).
The real star was the nurse on night duty on the night after the op - she had to change the sheets twice in two hours after the drain from the would came apart twice, leaving me lying in a pool of my own blood!
It went so well the the physio, who took me for a walk with a pair of sticks just 72 hours after the op, sent me home that day. We walked the length of the ward, then up the stairs to the next level and back down again. She said that my recovery would be best at my home, provided I carried on with my exercises and took my medication.
Even the orderly who pushed my wheelchair down to the X Ray department and then back up to the ward didn't keep me waiting more than about two minutes at any stage.
It was all a fine well organised performance by all concerned. Many thanks.
