"Concerned about lack of antenatal care"

About: Leeds General Infirmary / Maternity care

(as the patient),

My son was stillborn in 2010, and in 2011 I had an ectopic pregnancy. After these experiences I was sure I would get special care.

I have been referred to the LGI for consultant care when I was 8 weeks pregnant. I've had no blood work done and no scan. When is my appt for? I will be nearly 15 weeks which is appalling.

When I called up to complain I was laughed at. Told it didn't matter about my previous experience as this pregnancy was treated as a new pregnancy. What does that mean? That I won't get extra monitoring and care?

I have had to pay private for a scan which went well but still had no blood taken. How can I trust them with my health and the baby's? Appalling.

Dear Hamishmummy

Thank you for posting your comments about LGI. We are sorry that you feel the care you received and the attitude of the staff was of a poor quality. We always strive to offer everyone a high quality experience and take it very seriously when we get it wrong. If you would like to discuss the issues in person, and confidentially, you can contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (P.A.L.S) on 0113 2067168 or email patient.relations@leedsth.nhs.uk
