What could be improved

Surgical excellence badly let down, with rare exceptions, by overall poor nursing care lacking in compassion and efficiency. Aspects of my nursing care put my health and welfare and the surgical outcome of a 9 hour procedure at serious risk. These very serious lapses were not correctly or adequately managed in my view and the complaints procedure was generally poorly and ineffectively handled. The response was to excuse the very serious lapses rather than investigate thoroughly and take appropriate action. Hygiene on the ward was poor and the food and hotel services were also poor. I would be terrified of readmission to this hospital based upon my experiences and the lack of genuine concern and effective action following my complaint.
