"Art Therapy is helping me learn new skills"

About: Coventry And Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust / Older people's mental health

(as the patient),

I am doing group art therapy, but this information is based on one to one session with my tutor Jenny.

I found it very useful, I could paint as I felt. I could express how I feel without words in friendly and relaxed environment. I feel that I am gaining new skills as I have lost many skills because of my Alzheimer's. Boosted my confidence. It is good to have someone who listens and understands the skills I have lost. I would be very sad if I had to give it up. I told my husband what to write and I am happy with what has been written.

Dear Kite997,

Thank you for taking the time to provide a positive account of your experiences of Art Therapy, with your tutor Jenny. Your account highlights the difference Art Therapy can make to those suffering with Alzheimer's, and I am pleased that you have gained greatly from this intervention.

Your positive feedback will be passed onto the Art Therapy Service, and in particular to Jenny the Tutor.

Thank you again,

Best wishes

Julia
