I had a partial knee replacement which was extremely painful for months afterwards and function worse than before the operation.
A total knee replacement was done 18 months later in 2006 which has left me worse off with constant severe pain, especially at night, and limited function.
I have seen 3 other consultants within the past three years who say nothing can be done with this knee and referred to Pain Management Clinic who have suggested medication to be taken at night. (Sometimes this helps but certainly not every night and I am not keen to increase the dosage.)
The original consultant was sympathetic and suggested I seek a second opinion at a hospital nearer to my home hence the following three consultations.
I am firmly of the opinion that no one else i.e. consultants 'want to know' or go back on someone else's work. Meantime I suffer with both knees as I dare not risk another botched job!
