"Routine Breast Screening"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

Anything else?

I attended the breast screening unit at the QE, Gateshead, for a routine mammogram.

I'm always apprehensive in these situations as I'm not a svelt size 10!

From the reception staff to the Radiographer, I was treated with respect and my dignity was maintained.

A trainee radiographer, was present during my mammogram, but only after she sought my permission.

NHS funding is not infinite, so when potentially life saving investigations such as mammograms and Pap smears are offered, free of charge, it seems ridiculous not to grab the opportunity with both hands, because "we're embarrassed".

It's 5 minutes, every 3 years, that could perhaps save your life!

Take the opportunity; wear a paper bag over your head if it makes you feel better. But go for the appointment.
