"I dread ever being ill and having to be admitted..."

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

Anything else?

Experiences over the past 3 years - both my own and those of friends and relatives, have left me in fear of ever falling ill and having to be admitted to Royal Blackburn in an emergency. My own experiences concern my aunt, a dementia sufferer, who was admitted 15/01/2012 after a fire at her home. The hospital were made aware of her condition. The following morning, I was alerted by the police that my aunt had been found wandering along the M65. Despite the hospital being informed of her dementia, she had been able to walk through the hospital and to walk the considerable distance to the motorway, wearing nothing more than slippers and a sleeveless top. This was just the start of a week of calamities whilst she was on the ward. Since then, everyone I know who has been admitted has had problems of some kind with treatment, diagnosis or conditions. I just hope that I am never in a position where I need to be admitted - a hospital I would try my utmost to avoid at all cost.
