"Cancelled appointment"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

Anything else?

I recently had laser eye treatment and during the process the consultant noticed a freckle in my eye which has frankly caused me some anxiety. I was referred to the hospital by my GP and I asked if possible that I could be seen sooner rather then later. This was December and my appointment came through for Thursday 14 March at 9am with the opthalmic department, so I waited patiently and tried to forget about it. The morning came this week so I arranged time off work and got to the hospital at 8.50am with time to spare..... Only to be told that my appointment had been cancelled and a letter sent (I hadn't received a letter!) but no apology from the receptionist. I was fuming! I was told that the appointment had been rearranged for 10 April and I said that's really inconvenient as I start a new job on 8 April and it would look really bad to my new employers. I went to the General Office to complain and the lady there was really nice and gave me my car parking money back then gave me contact details for a lady who I called immediately from the car park. She was very nice and said that she would get someone to call me back today or tomorrow (Thursday or Friday) to rearrange the appointment. Today is Saturday 16 March and guess what? Nobody has called me back and the cancellation letter has just dropped through my letterbox dated 14 March! So the letter didn't get produced until the day of my original appointment. I'm very angry and upset that I still have this issue with my eye and I'm still no further to finds out what it is and if its harmful. Very poor service NHS! What am I paying my NI for?
