"Collapsed artery in my heart"

About: King George Hospital

Anything else?

I went in with chest pains but was sent home saying it was a muscular pain, but I readmitted myself two days later (Tuesday night). I was kept in the cardiac ward, and must admit that although I was having lots of tests, they were none the wiser, and still giving me Gaviscon for heart burn. On the following Monday, I called Bupa, and they organised an ambulance to the Independant hospital in Stepney. they found a collapsed artery and it was stented within a day.

I would like to say, that a nurse has the most disgusting attitude that I have ever had the misfortune to come across. I was on the mobile to Bupa, organising my transfer, and she came over shouting at me to get off the phone as it was causing the monitor to go funny (her words). As I'm an RF engineer, I know about signal ingress, and rubbed the phone up and down the cables to prove to her that there was no problem.... the Bupa guy actually commented on the rude and abrupt way of her talking to me... I just told her to go away and leave me alone...

I was very concerned to hear about your experience, both the clinical issues you raised and also the staff rudeness. I would be grateful if you would get in touch with me to tell me more about this, so we can look into them in more depth. Please could you make contact with our PALS team on 01708 435454 or email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk.

Yours sincerely

Dr Mike Gill

Medical Director
