March 2013: Following a meeting with with members of Ward, Orthopaedic, Physio staff, including consultant involved, I attended hospital at 7.30 am. Clear direction as to waiting area and possible timings. Cheerful staff taking me to operating theatre and every consideration given in setting ancient bones into correct position for epidural and then operating position. Theatre staff wer professional, sleep lady confident and cheerful. surgeons both made themsdelves known.
Really interested in sightd and sounds of operation and theatre disdipline, plus asides- and inteligent conversation with sleep lady anticipating new Pope. Recovery staff caring and chasing tails, for beds to move us to. Ward staff nothing too much trouble and a novel way of ensuring the male produces water specimen by threatening to wave a catheter to expidete the matter- works onderfully quickly! Day and night staff work well and in a genuin caring manner. Physio and staff of other disciplines equally motivated, even when they have to catchyou, literally, through trying to walk with low blood pressure. Nothing was too much trouble, no question was left unanswered, a very professional and commited band of people. And the post op, home visit, care has been fine. Four weeks on I am able to start helping with the school runs and volunteer work. Thank you Torbay- the second time in two years where your professsionalism has enabled me to continue to live a useful life. BS
