"Enterd with a collapsed lung and blood clot on..."

About: Sandwell General Hospital

Anything else?

Went to hospital in severe pain and strugling to breathe on 12/03/2013. Had xrays and given pain killers and told nothing seriously wrong with me. At 4.30 am 13/03/2013

paramedics called and after twenty minutes of working on me was rushed to hospital

with collapsed lung and multiple blood clots on the other. After spending a full day down stairs supposedly beeing assessed was admitted to the emergency assessment ward. Only to be told at 9.40 that I was being discharged and to come back at 10.30 14/03/21013. I have now been told that I need to visit the hospital every day which, if I could breathe properly would be a ten minute walk, how ever because I can't it takes an hour and a half. Being on benefits I cannot afford bus or taxi fares.

While all this was happening to me my mother who was rightly concerned and worried

was trying to find out what my condition was. She was given no help or informationation. I find the treatment of both myself and mother absolutely disgusting.

Had I a choice Iwould never enter this hospital again.

Response from Sandwell General Hospital

We try to provide help for patients who have to visit us repeatedly and have certain medical conditions. If you could contact me directly through tobylewis@nhs.net I will ask our team to look into whether there is more that we can do to help with your regular visits. We do audit the care of patients who re-attend our hospital in the way you describe. Again if you contact us then we can examine whether we should have done anything differently when you came to Sandwell on the 12th. Toby Lewis, Chief Executive
