"MRI Processing Patients"

About: Charing Cross Hospital

Anything else?

Went for MRI scan and evening 1730 appointment. Reception closed and scrappy hand written notices direct patients to a crowded waiting area. Mix of large soft armchairs and some hard chairs but overall not enough seating. No clear information about what happens/process when patients arrive. Therefore patients anxious whether their presence is known and how long they must wait. Eventually a nurse/radiographer takes all safety questionnaires and we wait. 2 changing rooms seemed inadequate; patients change into gowns, come out and then parade through public area to the scan rooms. Many seemed to find this undignified. Overall staff, when they briefly passed through, seemed pleasant and had time to answer questions i.e. the repeated question of what a patient must do? Appointment ran 35 minutes late.
