"A & E and Pharmacy dept"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital

Anything else?

My husband went to both depts today after being rushed in by ambulance by his gp.

The young lady doctor was lovely but the nurses had a job to speak to you, they never introduced themselves and never explained anything without being asked then they had a attitude and guessed at some of the answers instead of finding out.

When we went to get the medication prescribed we couldn't believe how long winded your system is , it took 30 mins for 1 box of tablets . When collected them we were not acknowledged he just took slip away without uttering one word came back asked date of birth then nothing else.

My husband could not believe the rudeness of it all. He said macdonalds give better customer service!

My suggestion is that the nurses and pharmacy staff need to go on a customer service awareness course and learn how to do the basics of hello, thank you, can I help, do you understand etc etc.

I was very embarrassed as to think I trained as a nurse there .Why can a manchester hospital be caring and polite when we go to various departments there but Macc can't. This has nothing to do with the lack of money or short staff just poor leadership.

Response from Macclesfield District General Hospital

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post your comments about your experience at Macclesfield Hospital. Whilst I am pleased to read the positive comment about the Doctor, I was disappointed to read your negative comments. It is not acceptable for any member of staff to be rude and have a poor attitude towards patients and their families. The lead nurse for the Acute Business Group is developing some awareness sessions for the issues you have highlighted and your comment will be discussed there. Your feedback is essential to the Trust in order for us to improve our services, so thank you again for posting them.
