"Care for an 18yr suffering from constant vomiting"

About: North Middlesex Hospital

Anything else?

My daughter had an operation for her appendix on 8th January, after being discharged home she was constantly vomiting after food and drink, I took her to our gp nothing worked back to north middlesex hospital, finally they readmitted her after finding keytones in her urine.

I visited her on a sunday to find she had been given chlopromazine and I was very unhappy as she was slurring her words and seemed really confused, after finally being able to speak to a consultant, regarding this medication, as i was furious at the high dosage my daughter wanted to be discharged, he agreed, as he said they wern't actively doing anything for her, now she had been in the hospital from the following tuesday, nothing was being actively done for her, one dr told her to eat the other told her not to eat, one dr said they would arrange an ultra sound of the abdomen and pelvis and didn't follow through, until I got hold of the management for the hospital. on discharge i was told that a meeting would be held on the thursday re gastro, and they would arrange for an MRI scan of her brain, my daughter is still vomiting so I rang the nursing management who to be fair, seemed as furstrated as I am. finally a doctor called to say that the consultant said he wasn't willing to prescribe Chlopromazine to stop the vomiting the only medication that worked and no they didn't have a meeting as he said they would. the Drs never follow up or keep their word, they seemed happy to prescribe a ridiculous dose, whilst she was there but as I'm asking for a smaller dose he won't prescribe it, told me to go to the GP and get something else. no care no respect no follow through, a total lack of communication, passing the buck, seems to be what this Dr. is about. I am worried for my child angry at the Drs who couldn't care less, about a patient.

So here we are today the 13th of March my daughter is still vomitting, they seem happy to leave an 18 yr old to lose weight who doesn't need to lose weight to have her suffering, not to have a life whilst they prance around in their little groups. It's the nurses who get it in the neck because these particular doctors don't care

Please accept our apologies for not having previously responded to your posting which I've just seen for the first time while going through older postings from before my time here. I hope your daughter is OK now and has made a good recovery. If you would like to give further feedback, please contact me (I'm the head of communications) at paul.wastell@nhs.net and I will do my best to ensure it is dealt with quickly. Many thanks.
