"Surviving my stroke"

About: Basildon University Hospital

Anything else?

At the age of 44 & being a reasonably healthy person the last thing I was expecting last week was to have an Acute Stroke. But thanks to the FAST adverts shown on the television my husband knew exactly what to do & I was whisked off in an ambulance very quickly & the medical attention & care I received at Basildon University Hospital was absolutely brilliant. The staff on Pasteur Ward were exceptional, hard working, dedicated & made a very terrifying situation a lot easier to cope with & kept us informed at all times. I have been very fortunate not to have any lasting effects & I am now recuperating at home & will be under the stroke clinic for more tests as an outpatient. When I was discharged everything about my medication & recovery was very clearly explained & although I still have a long way to go. I am certain that if I hadn't received such exceptional care the outcome could have been totally different. My family & myself will be forever grateful.

Thank you for taking the time whilst you are recovering from a stroke to give such positive praise of the staff within the hospital. It is imperative for fast prompt action to be taken in the accident and emergency department and by the Stroke team on Pasteur to give the best chances of recovery. Your comments will be passed onto the nursing and medical teams that were involved in your care.
