"sleep disorder service"
About: Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead) Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead) East Grinstead RH19 3DZ
The sleep disorder service looks like a great service but I experienced three faults. 1. administration before you join- they send you lots of forms to fill in, you send them back to outpatients and then you receive letters and calls asking for the forms. You ring but no one answers the phone and when they do, they infer you have not sent the forms and that you will be removed from the waiting list unless you fill them all in, in advance. I was promised they would be sent electronically but this also needed to be chased up and did not come electronically. After filling a second set of forms sent in the post, I Eventually got my appointment after they asked the GP to re-refer me, as they had discharged me even though I had never had a first appointment. When they finally got the information, I was phoned and asked to come in, with less than 2 weeks’ notice and no offer of choice of dates for a sleep study. I then received another letter asking me to fill in the same paper work yet again, which I did not do, as this would have been the third time!
The sleep centre itself feels isolated as you turn up at night, hang around alone allot waiting for someone to let you into the waiting area and attend to you, once you find the centre. There are men and women staying there which is disconcerting as I slept overnight with another chap next door. The staffs were in an observation rom. The room I had was hot so I didn’t sleep well and I could hear people walking around all night long, on the corridor floor especially if they were wearing shoes.
However since then I have no complaints. I only wish their administrators would answer their phone or have a email service so that those of us with busy lives, can have options for contact in this day and age.rather than just relying on post, paperwork and answerphone messages with the only access to contact the service is by phone. .
