"labour and birth and fantastic midwife"

About: Royal Jubilee Maternity services / Maternity care

(as the patient),

My waters had broken and I went into labour quickly and naturally. I started out labour in a water pool and seemed likely to get my wish of a water birth. But although I was in the final stages of labour, pushing was fruitless. The midwife got me out of the pool to see why. She said baby was at a bad angle and likely would need a forceps delivery. As I had only gas and air for pin relief, and baby was showing no signs of distress she notified Drs and they gave one hour for her to deliver my son or I would have to have forceps delivery with little pain relief.

Well it took the midwife, my husband, a student and the ward sister and a lot of contortions on my part but my son was delivered naturally as the Dr arrived for forceps delivery.

She was fantastic and I would be very happy of she was to deliver all my future children.
