Was taken by ambulance to S/M A&E last week and 3 days later I am still horrified by the treatment I received.
I was rushed into A&E after suffering from bleeding following an operation I had on my bowel the week before (operation did not take place at S/M). On arrival we had to queue in the corridor.
I was finally taken to a 'side room' which was so hot, unbelievably hot. I arrived at A&E mid evening (I stayed in A&E until the following morning no beds on the wards I was advised). The call button for the nurses did not work. I had to walk through the dept to find a nurse to request my commode was changed.
I spoke to the sister in charge who was at her desk. She didn't even look at me, just said someone will come. They didn't. I asked another nurse after 1 hour and still no one had come to change or help me.
So I did it myself. The only place I could store my faeces and blood was in a side store room connected to my room which stored dusty old computers. I had to change my own commode 4 times.
I looked after myself throughout my whole stay, blood coming from back passage, drips in my arm, at one stage I had no wipes. The sister in charge and one of the health care assistance seemed to have no compassion at all. Horrible horrible experience. I could go on and on....
