Anything else?
I was contacted by East Surrey Hospital after having a routine CT scan earlier on in the day at Crawley Hospital, which showed that I had a blood clot in my lungs and would need to go into East Surrey Hospital immediately for treatment, as it was a serious condition. I received this telephone call at 3:50pm in the afternoon, was admitted to the Acute Medical Unit shortly afterwards and then did not get to see a doctor until 10:00pm that evening! The Unit closed at 5:00pm and the impression myself and my husband had was that we had been forgotten and were thoroughly taken advantage of for being too patient and understanding in comparison with other patients. Every time I was told a doctor would come they never did and I was given conflicting medical advice from numerous different members of staff, which could have resulted in me making errors with my medication. I wouldn't have minded about the wait so much had I been able to see a doctor shortly after my admission to inform me as to my scan results, the diagnosis and proposed treatment, so at least I had some idea of what to expect as I was, I think understandably, very worried. The nurses are lovely, except when you start to complain about the wait. No idea where the doctors are though!
