About: Worthing Hospital

Anything else?

Taken to Worthing Hospital by ambulance called to deal with severe breathing problems. The confidence and care of the ambulance team were so reassuring as they gave oxygen and set up heart monitoring equipment. Wonderful. Special thanks for this fast, efficient and kind support.

Calm and fast examination and treatment in casualty where I was diagnosed with heart failure associated with oedema.

Admitted to Acute Medical Unit where further medication was arranged and I was monitored overnight and the next day. Once stable my place in the AMU was needed for another urgent case and because of risk of hospital acquired infection I was dreading transfer to a general ward.

The general ward was undergoing cleaning whilst I was there and the in-depth procedures exceeded those of a first class hotel. No wonder everywhere I had been was so clean. Congratulations to the team responsible for this and keeping the hospital safe.

Prompt arrangements were made for me to see the hospital's Consultant cardiologist

Sadly the haemotology unit at Worthing Hospital is very busy and instead of calling and waiting at Worthing I opted to have regular blood samples taken by appointment at my local GP.and those samples were sent to Chichester laboratory.

All went well at first in that Worthing were kept informed and were able to notifiy me promptyl of the results and any need to change medication. The system then seemed to break down and Worthing did not get the results from Chichester.

It was important for me that my care was under one roof and so rather reluctantly I decided that my case papers would be transferred to St. Richards Hospital at Chichester
