During the summer of 2012, I became increasingly lacking in energy and severely short of breath, even doing the simplest of tasks. I was admitted to Dewsbury Hospital in October, diagnosed with heart failure and came home 2 weeks later.
At the time, I had only a course of tablets and a small booklet for guidance. Luckily, I have also had regular visits from heat failure nurse David Fearnley, who has given invaluable support. He has adjusted my medication dosage, monitored my progress and, most importantly, been able to answer any questions and deal with any concerns. I'm not sure how we'd have managed without him.
I do now feel well on the way to recovery and it's due to the support that has been provided. I realise that I will be on medication for the rest of my life but feel able to cope due to the help that David has given.
