I've been visiting the dermatology department for about five years now. Thankfully this has been my only personal experience of the NHS in recent years, but we all read of bad examples of practice in the press. If the rest of the NHS was even half as good as the Dermatolgy department at Blackburn Royal then the country would be in safe hands. The staff, from the receptionists at Outpatients, through to the Consultants are friendly and professional. Special mention though must go to the Dermatology Nursing team who go above and beyond to make patients feel comfortable. No one wants to have to visit a hospital, but if you have to then you want to be treated with fairness and dignity, something that the staff in this department work hard to ensure happens.
