"appointments at the gp's surgery and at the hospital"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

After receiving a reminder from my GP's surgery about an annual blood test, I rang the surgery to make an appointment. More than a week later I received a reminder from somewhere other than the surgery to make an appointment. It would seem that the two don't share information so yet again the poor tax payer's money goes on needless expenditure.

Also after receiving a letter to confirm I had been referred to a consultant in haematology, I was supplied with a list of potential hospitals and the option of making an appointment online or calling the number supplied on the letter. I tried online but was simply met with "no appointments available". I rang the number and was then told I had been put on a separate list and would be contacted later. Later turned out to be three months later and then I was sent two lots of details about the appointment. What a joke. Too much time and resources wasted on doing things twice.

Thank you for this feedback. The Trust is currently reviewing the way it manages out patient activity and is focussing on ensuring that capacity is available to offer appointments in a timely manner.
