"Disappointed by the district nurses in Southwark"

About: Southwark PCT / District nursing

(as a carer),

I have encountered an extremely bad experience regarding the District Nurses assigned to Southwark. I have had two District Nurses in one week attend to my mother who suffers with Dementia and is very frail.

The first was brisk and rushed my mother around her home to get the bloods done. When I approached them to suggest that they slow down due to the frailty of my mother and I asked them whether they had read her notes, they replied " I am the District Nurse and do not need to read her notes". I was appalled and after 3 attempts of taking bloods, I asked them to leave.

Two days later, a different District Nurse arrived with a student. I was not forewarned and said that I did not wish the student to come in. The District Nurse's reaction was rude and offensive and they refused to treat my mother and walked out. I said that I would submit a complaint if they did not continue treating my mother and asked their name which again they refused to do. The Nurse left without taking bloods.

Absolute disgrace!
