After a fall a work several years ago and many trips to physio, my pain levels remained too much for me to handle, limiting my activities. I was finally referred to the Pain Management Team, in Hull, and have been to the group therapy sessions which made me realize that others were in a similar situation. After these, I was treated with massage therapy which helped me to relax a little and in turn my stress levels decreased slightly. Once these sessions were complete, I am currently undergoing a course of acupuncture for 8 sessions and then top ups alternated with osteopath appointments.
These last two therapies have had a dramatic effect on myself both physically and mentally, Although some of the sessions have been more than a little uncomfortable, the results have been life changing. I am able to walk my dogs and push a trolley around the supermarket unaided, within reason, and am slowly reducing the pain relief medication prescribed to me through the Pain Management Team. I am so grateful for this service and the difference it has made and ALL staff I have been in contact with have been extremely supportive, adapting therapies as the need arises. I would have loved to have had the opportunity to experience these course of treatments years ago, after my fall but am looking forward to further therapies to enhance my healing and pain management techniques further.
Many thanks to all the staff involved with my case so far. I have certainly benefited from this service and would highly recommend it to others in my situation.
