"Queen Charlottes has gone down Hill."

About: Queen Charlotte's Hospital

Anything else?

I was at queen Charlottes with my baby girl due in November 2012 my appointment at the hospital was fine, I then went to the birthing centre from 36 weeks which was great as in the main hospital they run about 1 hour behind in the birthing centre you was seen within minutes. I then became over due and went it to slow labour on friday not giving birth till wednesday. I went to the hospital being sent home twice, the third time i went in i was admitted only for them to try and send me home 4 hours later which i refused as i was in so much pain and hadn't slept since friday. so they sent me down on the ward, i got checked 4 hours later and got sent back up to delivery. My first midwife was terrible hardly spoke to us and left me for hours on end, i had had an epidural and woke up during the night it had worn off i was in alot of pain, shaking and crying i buzzed the nurse twice to be told shes buzy. another miidwife then walked passed and see me and attended to me straight away i had also developed a temperature so was given something for that. I was then put on the drip 8 hours after being promised as i needed to be supervised but wasn't she kept disapering. Finally the morning staff came on shift i had a loverly midwife and trainee who never left me once, spoke to us and was very nice. The matress my partner slept on also had a needle in it which was found in the morning. my baby was delivered by forcepts but was fine. After my midwifes left at 2pm i was left alone holding my babty until midnight i had no cot and no one to move me and no food offered to me. Night staff was great as my baby wouldnt settle she took her for 5 or 6 hours so i could sleep. The then day staff came on they where horrible and made me feel like a silly little girl even though im 26. I was given some toast and lunch order was taken, it was given to somebody else though, even though i was told i was lying basically so i didnt eat again. I Would like to say a big thanks to the midwifes that delivered my baby and the night staff on the ward. Everybody else didnt want to be there.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We welcome feedback both positive and negative and this has been passed to the Lead Midwife at Queen Charlotte's and the Head of Midwifery.

Thank you for your kind expression of appreciation for the midwife and night staff who cared for you.
