Anything else?
After an accident we took our Dad to Accident and Emergency because his breathing was very poor, he was in a great deal of pain and had strange clicking sounds coming from his chest. After a long wait of several hours he was eventually seen by a DR who treated him with no respect at all. He was told older people do have falls and was given over the counter painkillers to take home. We begged the DR to do an XRay because the clicking sound was getting louder. He didn't even listen to his chest. We left only because my Dad was so embarrassed as he felt like he had wasted their time.
Less than 20 hours later he was rushed in again this time by ambulance the staff were fantastic from start to finish. He was literally dying in front of us and they kept everything so calm and put both my Dad and our family at ease. In A&E they worked on him for several hours before we could see him but they were very compassionate and kept us up to date. He was so unwell he had to be transferred for an XRay with a large team of staff to simply keep him alive, again nothing was too much for these kind gentle people. He had pneumonia, broken ribs and had crushed his lung. After he arrived on Critical Care the care he received was amazing the sort of care that I would expect Royalty and Dignities to receive. All of the staff were professional, caring, compassionate and answered any questions we had. We almost lost my Dad three times whilst he was here but the calming influence that the staff had was the only way that our family survived the ordeal.
Several months later he is fit, well and most of all alive thanks to fantastic care, however we often wonder if he would have been treated in the beginning if this could have been either prevented or lessened. It must have cost thousands for the treatment that my dad received. I am confident that it would have cost less and been less stressful both for him and the family had he have been taken seriously in the first place.
