"Pain clinic lack of communication regarding my..."

About: King's Mill Hospital

Anything else?

I first attended pain clinic in jan at this point I finally felt my chronic pain was being acknowledged.

Went back 2 weeks later for what my letter said was treatment of the shoulder and what I assumed was my usual cortisone injection.

I soon learned as they were putting a cannula into my hand that this wasn't going to be my usual treatment. When asked what they were going to do they laughed. I then had numerous trigger injections into various sights of pain inc neck, head and shoulder.

I wasn't told at the time that this treatment may cause shingles or other side effects. I developed shingles as a result less than a week later and this was agony. I also developed a bright red rash prior to this on the back if the neck. I contacted the clinic and was just told that the doctor treating me would not be available to see me and if I felt it necessary to pop in so one of the nurses could have a look. This is when I went to my doctor.

Since then I have felt ill most of the time. The shingles and pain from that has gone but these injections have made my pain spiral out of control and nothing is touching it. Having read up on this it could indicate that there is an infection in the joints they injected. I have contacted pain clinic and no one was available to talk to me.

A message was left for them to ring me and they haven't and since doing the injections I have had no follow up. I recieved a letter telling me what they had done, it states i told them at my last appointment I couldn't work as I couldn't move my arm? That's what I was there for in the first place and they knew this from my first meeting.

It also states I advised them I was going for an MRI? The pain clinic set this appointment up for me, I merely stated that I had had it done when I went for these trigger injections.

It then states I will get a follow up by phone on the 25th march leaving me in agony for almost 2 months.

When I rung the pain clinic regarding the contents of this letter they told me my ring back on the 25th march had been cancelled due to me ringing them on the 12th February to tell them I would be ill? I didn't realise I could see the future and I didn't know about the appointment prior to this letter to be able to cancel it. Not happy at all and am looking to transfer all treatment somewhere else.
