Anything else?
After 20 days of excellent life saving care in Critical Care, ITU and HDU my father in law was transferred to Clementine B. He has been there for 24 hours and because the tube feed he was on in ITU has not been authorised - he has not been fed! I am currently unable to visit him but family members have been there and raised concerns about the staffing levels on the ward but were told by the ward sister they were sufficient during the day and he would have a 'special' at night. He has to our knowledge had one fall in the first 24 hours. The ITU outreach nurse on checking him requested fluids as his heart rate was high. He had to wait until a nurse was free.
I cannot praise enough the staff in critical care and so many others in ITU and HDU but wonder if the life saving treatment he received will be undermined on the wards. During 20 days in ITU we got to know other families who had a family member in ITU because of the lack of care on the wards. I hope my father in law is not going to be another sad case we read about in the papers. I hope somebody reads this.
