"Waiting time"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

Anything else?

I attended an appointment in the orthopaedic fracture clinic on 14/2/13 my appointment was at 10.50. I took my son ,7 months old,as I thought I would only be waiting for a short while and then we could go into town.

Chatting to some of the other patients waiting they said I would be lucky to be seen within the hour.

We sat and waited and waited and finally were taken through to see the consultant at 13.00, who strolled in with no apology sat down as if they were slumped in a settee spoke to me for 5 mins and walked out again.

I have always had high praise for the NHS and in particular Basingstoke as I have had treatment before and gave birth to my son there and the highest level of care was given. However, I was terribly disappointed that while sat waiting on Thursday not one person came out to tell us of a delay even though there was a board where delay times could be written and the worst was that there was no apology from anyone when we finally were taken through. I understand that the consultants are extremely busy people but a simple sorry goes a long way.

I am now awaiting dates for another appointment and am dreading the thought of having to sit there for another 2 hours for a quick 5 minute appointment by someone who personally I felt wanted to be elsewhere.
