I went yesterday with cellulitis in my hand. I didn't realise I needed to register at A&E reception to attend the UCC, maybe that could be made clearer for patients or maybe I needed to use common sense!

After a half hour wait, I was shown into the UCC, and then my name was called again in A&E reception - not sure the two departments had spoken to each other! Having said that, I was seen relatively quickly (another half hour wait), sent home with antibiotics and told to come back today if I got any worse, to ask for the nurse pratitioner who has seen me, and I would be seen straight away.

The nurse pratitioner was very nice, asked relevant questions, did all the usual tests with the minimum of fuss and discussed available options with me, allowing me to make a decision on my care.
