The quality of care and compassion shown by all staff involved in the care of our mother was exceptional. The ambulance, hospital and palliative care experienced can only be described as outstanding and we have nothing but the highest praise and regard for all those involved.

Special acknowledgement must go to the staff of Ward 9 at Wansbeck General Hospital (Ashington) they are true ambassadors to the medical profession and a credit to the NHS. At a time when we find it all too easy to criticise, I felt compelled to write a review to express how comforting they all were at a very distressing time for our family and receiving such a first class level of care at the hands of such wonderful people was heartwarming.

Firstly we’d want to say just how sorry we are for your loss - our thoughts are with you and your family. At such a painful time, it is incredibly generous of you to find the time to get in touch with us.

We do feel very proud of the team on ward 9, and of our stroke service in general, for the recognition they have received nationally. It is however especially heartwarming to hear you speak so personally not just about the quality of care your Mother received , but also the way in which this care was delivered and all that this meant to you and your family. Thank you.

We will ensure your kind and thoughtful words are passed on to all concerned – it will certainly mean a great deal to them.
