About: North Manchester General Hospital

Anything else?

I have no experience of the hospital care or treatment but I have just spent 35 minutes trying to find out which ward my cousin had been admitted to last Sunday, (I have been trying to contact her at home all week). The main switchboard put me through to admissions several times but no one answered and the call terminated automatically. Eventually she gave me the direct number and I tried to get through myself, but had the same experience. I went back to switchboard who eventually put me through to A&E who did manage to find which ward she is on. She asked me couldn't I find out from the family, I am the family! I am her next of kin and her only family and no one had informed me of her admission. I have just made a total of 17 calls to get this basic information anfd spent 35mins on the 'phone,

We are sorry to hear you were not notified about your cousin becoming an inpatient at North Manchester General Hospital.

If you could contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Services (PALS) on 0161 604 5897 and provide more details we can then make further enquiries.
