"Great staff but nothing is perfect"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

Anything else?

I had shoulder surgery in January 2013 and the staff were excellent! However I was left food, that i was unable to reach, cut up and open packets due to the nature of my surgery. During the 24 hours I was on the ward I ate one digestive biscuit as it was all I could reach. The nurses are far too busy to be cutting up my food and I feel it should have been done by the people bringing the food around.

It was good to hear that you had successful surgery on your shoulder but I was concered to see that you didn;t receive the appropriate support with eating. The nursing staff are responsible for ensuring that patients food is accessible to them; the support staff to provide the food. I have raised the issue with the service concerned and they would like to offer their apologies for this lack of support.
