"Good care but poor communication at Bolton"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital / Colorectal surgery

(as the patient),

After having trouble with constipation, I was admitted to ward E3 at the Royal Bolton hospital in April of this year. The standard of care I received was generally good. The nurses were brilliant despite being run off their feet.

I did feel that communication between doctors and patients could have been better though. Patients who didn't ask for information just weren't given any explanations whatsoever. This, I believe, needs to be addressed.

We know that good communication can really make a difference to patients so it is disappointing to hear that you felt that this wasn't good enough. We will pass on your comments to the ward concerned and also inform our Medical Director. It is reassuring, though, that you were happy with the standard of care you received. Thank you for your views.
