"eye issues - ophthalmology"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

Anything else?

I am currently waiting diagnosis for an eye issue which has left me all but blind in one eye. My consultant advised me on my last visit that it is urgent and I needed a fluorescien angiography in order to see what is going on with in the next 5days. The next day I received a letter confirming the appointment for 10 days time.when I rang I was advised that a fluoresciene angiography could only be done on a Tuesday and that is the quickest they could see me, I explained that the consultant had asked for this to be arranged sooner but was made to feel like I wanted to queue jump ahead of others that need urgent treatment. This was not the case at all, I was just concerned that my consultants instructions had not been followed. In the mean time I have been left to struggle on with no help or advice on how to cope with the deterioration to my sight. So far I have made 3 trips to the hospital and I am no further forward. next Tuesday will be my forth and I expect I will be called back for the results. I expect more from the NHS and I wonder if the chief executive of the rli would be happy to wait this long for a simple test to be carried out. I doubt it very much.
