My son kept having ear infections and chest infections, he had a total of 6 infections in two months.
His GP gave him antibiotics each time. He was not getting any better, we were back and forth at the Emergency and the same GP with treatment of the actual cause.
I went back to my country of origin during the Christmas break and was immediately referred to a specialist in ENT who examined him and he had a conductive hearing loss due to fluids in his ears, which needed to be removed with grommets. And the ENT performed the grommets and now he is feeling better and hearing better.
The ENT said that if it would have been diagnosed late it might have resulted in a permanent hearing loss. Why is it so difficult for some GPs to refer to specialists instead of damaging patients health?
