" Concern over diagnosis and attitude of drs"

About: Bronglais General Hospital / General Medicine

(as the patient),

I’ve been ill in hospital twice, with dehydration, stomach pain and weight loss. The staff nurses were great, under a lot of pressure, but I found some doctors’ behaviour appalling. I have been told I have an eating disorder and bio polar disorder, which is the cause of my weight loss and that I’m depressed. This was by medical doctors, not psychiatrists, despite having no evidence to give that kind of diagnosis. It has been most distressing for me, as I am a staff nurse myself and Drs found in hospital that my weight loss is due to everything going through me at twice the rate and I have an over active bowel but do not know why.

I also found out from my own investigations that I am tpo positive and auto immune positive and has raised tsh intermittently over last 3ys and private tests revealed I was adrenal deficient. But NHS do not recognise the salivary tests, despite being carried out by a licensed and accredited lab. I saw an endocrinologist, after waiting 4months due to NHS cock-ups, who said not to worry about it - despite being constantly tired and lethargic and having memory problems on and off for 3 yrs. I have had to go private now, as I’m so frustrated and angry about the NHS service I received.
