About: Tameside General Hospital

Anything else?

I have visited the hospital and my first impression was not very good, nevertheless I receive good services with some of the midwife. The waiting time was terrible and think it need improvement.

I,m not sure if I will receive the level of care I got for my first child in london. I read in the news that tameside is one of the worst in england and this has cause all my alarm bell to ring, or if the midwife will be patient with my individual needs.

I need someone to convinced me to stay and give birth tameside.

Thank you for taking the time to post your message on the patient opinion website.

I am sorry that you felt the waiting time in clinic was terrible. Work is on going to improve the women’s journey through the clinic but on occasion emergencies do arise that can cause a delay for women being seen.

I can assure you that Tameside Maternity Services provides excellent care for women and their families. This can be evidenced from a variety of sources including national maternity surveys.

I would like to take the opportunity to direct you to our maternity web page; Patient Opinion web page; and Royal College of Midwives (RCM) web pages.

Last year two of the midwives received joint first place as being midwives of the year from nominations across the whole of the UK. Only two week ago, the maternity services won a national award from the RCM.

If you would like to contact the Head of Midwifery directly to discuss your concerns further or to have a visit of the unit to meet staff and women then please do not hesitate. You can contact Lesley Tones Head of Midwifery and Women’s Services on direct dial 0161 331 6179.

Can I take this opportunity to thank you again for your posting.

Kind regards

John Goodenough

Director of Nursing

Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved? Please contact John Goodenough, Director of Nursing at
