Anything else?
Ater being admitted through A & E, my relative was moved to several different wards, charts showed the wrong name, gave incorrect details, were filled in and signed off by staff who had not even seen this patient; an I/V drip conatining pain-relief was not reconnected as there was no drip-stand available on new ward, finally was perched on tv arm, pain relief had to be begged for, several times; relatives were given incorrect information on several occasions ('fine, probably coming home' - since when did oxygen mask and ECG indicate 'fine'?, and 'walked to toilet' when patient was bed-ridden and catheterised), relatives were patronised when asking for explainations, relatives were told plainly that all bloodworks were clear, yet patient overheard staff admitting that bloods had been left under reception desk!
I am totally disenchanted with Heartlands hospital, I remain angry at those staff who were 'very busy' when asked to empty a full cather-bag that was dragging on the floor (no free clips on the ward), yet could be overheard chatting and laughing loudly. I have asked that my concerns be documented, I shall be complaining to the PALS service and I shall do my utmost not to visit this again! Apologies to the (too) few decent staff there.
