"I am a family member of a patient."

Anything else?

10/02/13 today was the first day of seeing my 90 year old uncle in his new ward at brooks field hospital, This hospital was fairly clean the staff was welcoming and treated him fairly well. But now I come onto my point that I would like to be chased up and dealt with, In the house which my uncle is in, I have know clue which house he is in, the one near the large car park at the rear of the hospital. There are no TV's in any room to keep them satisfied, there is no radio, the staff seem to check up on him every 3 or 4 hours but don't make him feel at home or have a conversation with him. Me and my family were told this was because they were trying to encourage people to get out of bed more and socialise with other people. But they are missing a point, what about the people like my uncle who cannot get about of bed with out any support! If I where to sit there all day every day staring at an empty wall, my brain would just die and fall to bits. I am a 13 year old secondry school boy (Linton village college) who is just tryin to get the rest of my uncle heart up and running again. This is a point that everyone will agree on and I just don't want my uncle to slip away from Bordem. He is the most talented artist in the world. And every time I think about him, I want to cry and my heart just melts and wants to be with him every second that puts a smile on his face!

Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a personal account of yours and your uncle’s experience at Brookfield’s Hospital.

The issues you raised are quite complex and we have shared them with the team and began exploring them further. To be sure we fully respond to your concerns it would be really helpful if you could get in touch with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) in Cambridgeshire via email: ccs-tr.pals@nhs.net or phone: 01480 355184 freephone: 0800 0132511.

Warmest wishes
