"unavailable consultants appointment unacceptably..."

About: Hillingdon Hospital

Anything else?

I was seen in December and my follow on appointment was for the 2nd Feb and then this was moved to 4th March and it has now been moved to the 22nd April, it is now almost 6 months since I had my consultation and I am still waiting for my follow on appointment and my condition is much worse than it was when I had my consultation in December.

The Hillingdon Hospital Outpatients’ department would like to apologise for the unacceptable number of times that your appointment has been changed. The service manager who undertook the investigation explained that because appointments are booked in advance they are at risk of being cancelled if a clinician requests or rearranges annual leave. To prevent this happening the Trust policy requires a six week notice period for leave requests. Unfortunately sometimes sickness or unplanned leave can result in multiple cancellations. We understand this is frustrating for our patients. Clinics are only cancelled if there is no other Clinician available to cover the clinic. Thank you for your feed back we do take your comments very seriously.
