"Amazing care and attention"

About: Derriford Hospital / General surgery

(as a relative),

My mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and admitted for the insertion of a stent to alleviate symptoms of jaundice. Very sadly she deteriorated very quickly and died 2 weeks later.

That was devastating for us but what helped us all to cope was the AMAZING care and attention she received from the staff on Hound Ward at Derriford Hospital.

When I say staff I need to emphasise that I refer to everyone - the cleaners, the caterers, the nurses and the doctors. It was so evident that this ward is staffed with kind, caring, committed professionals who truly care about the individual and their total well being.

In addition, we the family, were also recipients of this care and kindness. Never before have I witnessed such care.

Good afternoon,

Firstly, on behalf of the team here at Derriford may I express our sincere condolences to your family on the loss of your mother.

It is so kind of you to comment on the wonderful care your mother received from all the team on Hound (medical, nursing and SERCO teams) and the support your family received at what must have been a very sad time for you all.

Please be assured that your lovely comments will be shared with all teams involved and on their behalf, please can I express sincere thanks. I know they will be most grateful.

With kindest regards

Mary
