After finding out I had a breast cancer gene early 2012 I was sent to a family history breast clinic. During the clinic it was picked up by the breast care staff that I had a small lump in my left breast, l was sent for a scan and biopsy of this lump straight away. After a breast MRI scan it was picked that I had several changes in my breasts non of which were cancer. In clinic I was sensitively given two options . To carry on with the screening or to have a risk reducing double mastectomy and reconstruction of my breast. I would like to say a big thank you to all of the breast care staff, I have been treated with great care and compassion. I have been guided through the journey brilliantly, and been involved greatly with all the decisions over my care. I am so pleased with the results of my reconstruction. Thank you to all the staff on gedington ward who looked after me so well post operation.
