Anything else?
I recently had emergency surgery at CRH and stayed on the gynae ward- ward 4c. On the whole, the staff could not have been nicer and I was treated with care and compassion throughout my stay there was a nurse who was particularly excellent, a real role model for exemplary nursing care. The consultant initially misdiagnosed me but luckily sent me for a second opinion with a colleague who was excellent.
It was unfortunate that the nurse who discharged me was the only one I met who was not particularly interested in helping me or being kind, dismissing me with no advice or follow-up care instructions, not so much as a leaflet. Maybe she's usually good and was having an off day, I don't know. It was in marked contrast to the rest of the staff's attitude. I then had very frightenening post-operative complications and had to return, but if she had warned me what to expect, it would have been less traumatic.
Overall, the facilities and staff, all the auxiliary staff and cleaners were doing an excellent job and I am very grateful to them for minimising the impact of an awful experience.
"Excellent care on the whole"
