Anything else?
As a Next of Kin to one of the patients currently in the hospital I am very disappointed with communication. The nursing and medication on Med2 is very good indeed. However, I found that certain members of staff obviously do not read notes. I visited the patient today and was greeted with "are you the next of kin" having given an affirmative reply I was told "she can go home today"....when I pointed out that this was not the case there seemed to be some confusion. The patient in question comes under the care of a Social worker because of her psychiatric condition and clearly this had not been taken into account. It had been decided in a meeting a week ago (with a nurse present) that the patient would be placed in a care-home as it was not safe for her to return to the property she lived in, panel papers are being prepared and the nurse attending the meeting said she would prepare necessary papers!!!!!!!!.
Similarly, I had a message from my friend's neighbour saying she had been told that my friend was being sent home ......Why are you communicating with a neighbour? Surely your duty is to the next of kin not a next door neighbour.
I suggest you train staff to read notes. I notice that medical wards are not included in the dept. list.
