I had been at a meeting in Newcastle and felt a bit dizzy standing, but it got worse, on getting home I felt really bad, and unable to breath with chest pain. After about half an hour the emergency services were called, who responded very quickly and gave excellent service. The journey to the hospital seemed very long, Whickham to the hospital, but when I eventually arrived I was admitted straight away to Accident and Emergency and treated staight away. The ECGs did not show sufficient abnormality to warrent a transfer to the Freeman so I was eventually admitted to the Cardiac ward.
The treatment I received was excellent, and no waiting, as I have heard of late. I remained in hospital that night, the only delay was in giving me some pain relief, which did not happen for about 7 hours after my admission. All the staff were helpful and I really could not fault the serivce. Luckily on this occasion it was not a heart attack, which had been suspected, and the reason for the problem has not yet been found. I was discharged the following day, and so far have had no recurrence of the problem.
