I went for a scan at 12 weeks to be told my babies heart had stopped at 9 weeks. Our world fell apart. There was no sympathy or understanding it was just a case of your baby heartbeat is not there. I started to bleed on Sunday only spot bleeding, then I went to A&E where they helped all they could until it got busy. Then I felt they did not want to know. I was sent home and told to come back if bleeding got worse which it did. I returned and we saw a gynae doc who was very nice. He booked me in for this scan the next day.
As soon this the lady said I was showing at 9 weeks 1 day, I knew it was bad news as it was a tried for so we knew the dates. She said she could not find a heart beat and called for a higher doctor. When she entered after being told, she turned the screen around and showed us our baby, then said 'I cant find a heart beat.' I burst into tears. They took us to a room and just said 'baby needs to come out' and explained I can be booked for the op the next morning. At no point did we get offered counselling or even an 'are you ok' or anything.
I was sent home in a state and passed my baby that night. I still went to hospital as I was due in for an op but got there 20 mins early haemorrhaging. I was simply told to go A&E until my mum lost her rag and a nurse came running over and put me on a bed and cleaned me up. I was in fact haemorrhaging and god knows what could have happened if it wasn't for that one nurse showing a bit of compassion. I was kept in and pulled around, then sent home where I have been since.
I've had no calls to offer any support or even a call to check I'm ok. The way my miscarriage was treated was completely unacceptable and the lack of support is terrible. My heart goes out to anyone who has to go through this. It's been the worse thing I've ever been through. I did not know what to expect and was given no guidance. Most of the Darenth Valley Hospital Staff I met should be ashamed.
